This past weekend was the Indiana Dream Girls USA Pageant in Columbus, IN. My niece Ashlynn was competing in the pageant. My sister, my mother,my other niece Jasmine, and myself all went to support her. We made a girls weekend getaway out of it. The pageant was held in a really nice Holiday Inn, that included an indoor pool, hot tub, mini golf, game room, and fitness room. Friday we just got checked in and registered. Then Ashlynn had her spokemodel event. This is where she got up on stage in her dream girls logo t-shirt and introduced herself and what she likes to do. She did a great job, and we could actually understand her. After that we went swimming and sat in the hot tub. Saturday morning we started early in getting Ashlynn ready for the formalwear event. For this event she had to wear her fancy pink dress that her gma made her (we soon found out another girl in her age group had the same exact dress, that was crazy!). She did an excellent job on stage and smiled at the judges the entire time. Right after that event was the fashion runway event. This time Ashlynn got to rock out in a cute black sparkly dressa with sparkly gloves and a top hat. She used the hat as part of her dance routine. She rocked it on stage and everyone was telling her how good she did. The last event was the casual runway. This time she was to dress up in an everyday off the rack outfit, which she wore a little capri outfit from Ann Loren Boutique. She did a good job during this event, but did not have great eye contact. After that we sat around for a while, took a quick nap, then went to eat at a mexican restaurant my dad had told us about close to the hotel. We were in need of a drink after the long day with the diva, so we ordered a 60 oz pitcher of strawberry daquari to split between the 3 of us. My sister buys strawberry applesauce for the kids so Jasmine kept asking for applesauce. It was too cute! Ashlynn was flirting with the workers and they even let her write on their dry erase board. When we got back to the hotel it took a little while but we all finally got int he hot tub for a few. Mom and Candace were feeling pretty good from the drink, but we were all enjoying ourselves. Then me and ashlynn went to workout while the other girls laid down. It had been a long day, but Ashlynn was still rearing to go. She also had watched to much Jerry Springer Friday afternoon because she kept wanting to take her clothes off (the show was about strippers and their boyfriends). Sunday morning was the crowning ceremony. We were all hoping Ashlynn would win something, but were pleasantly suprised when she walked away with 3 trophies and a plaque. Everyone receieved a participation trophy. Then the crowning of the "little misses" Ashlynn recieved a plaque for overall best fashion runway" and she was 1st runner up for the little miss age division and recieved a trophy for that. Mom was a little confused at first that this was a good thing, she thought that she should have recieved the queens title but that would have meant that she did not recieve a "supreme" or "hi point" title. So we waited and then her name was called for the "Supreme Beauty". This means that not only did she beat the girls in her age group, but she had the highest score for formalwear from ages 4-15. She did a great job. The only higher title she could have gotten was the hi point, which was highest scores overall. She did a great job and we are all very proud of her. She went in as "Little Miss Brownsburg" and came out as "Indiana Supreme Beauty". Next stop is Nationals. Road trip...... St. Louis, MO here we come!
